Wow it has been over a month since I last wrote. Right now on Sunday nights I am doing a Beth Moore bible study on Esther. I am loving it. There is so much more to the book than Esther the Jew saving her people. I have learned so much over the past few weeks. One thing that has stuck with me is timing. The other thing is patience. Esther had to have the right timing to seek out the King and she also had to have patience to wait for the right timing. While we are waiting God is at work! Something Beth said was that "Our culture is training us in Impatience. (Basically teaching us that we don't have to wait. One of the most important spiritual disciplines is waiting upon the Lord.)" Everywhere we look or go we can have things right then. No Wait!! Drive-thrus, express lane, phones, Internet, ect. WE have now idea what it feels like to have to wait. So when we are in a situation and it requires us to wait, we don't know how to act or what we should be doing.
For example, if Esther did not wait on God she would have messed everything up. The events that happened right after Esther entered into King Xerxes presence without being summoned, are very important. Before she even went to see the King, every Jew was fasting and praying. Then after she saw the king and he extended his scepter she asked for him and Haman to join her for a feast or a banquet. When King Xerxes asked her what she wanted she did not immediately reply she simply asked King Xerxes and Haman to join her the next night for another feast. Now for some of you know what happened that night after the feast. Haman was finishing the gallows and the King had a restless night and God showed him some things in a dream. If Esther had not waited another night to give her request the King would not have been ready to hear what she was saying. Everyone had to be prepared at the same time. Sometimes while we are waiting we get tired and impatient. Another thing Beth said was "Our strength will be depleted when we wait up on the 'event or the thing.' We are commanded to wait upon the Lord!" Isaiah 40:31 says "But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."
In the meantime of our waiting we need to be praying for God to work and set things/events up that will lead us to where we need to be going at the end of our waiting season. I say all of this because right now Shawn and I are in a waiting season. When we get frustrated we cling to the verse in Isaiah. God is working behind the scenes and we need to be patient. Most times it is hard to wait because we are not used to waiting. This study of Esther could not have come at a better time. I have learned and gleaned so much from this study. I am going to close with a verse and then a song that Shawn and I have claimed for ourselves at this time. It talks about what we need to do while we are waiting.
Habakkuk 2:3 "For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay."
While I'm Waiting by John Waller
I'm waiting
I'm waiting on You, Lord
And I am hopeful
I'm waiting on You, Lord
Though it is painful
But patiently, I will wait
I will move ahead, bold and confident
Taking every step in obedience
While I'm waiting
I will serve You
While I'm waiting
I will worship
While I'm waiting
I will not faint
I'll be running the race
Even while I wait
I'm waiting
I'm waiting on You, Lord
And I am peaceful
I'm waiting on You, Lord
Though it's not easy
But faithfully, I will wait
Yes, I will wait
I will serve You while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting
I will serve You while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting
I will serve you while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting on You, Lord
